Other Costs
Please note that the programme fees above exclude:
Goods and Services Tax (GST) and Sales Tax
All student fees shown are net of any local value-added tax (VAT), Goods and Services Tax (GST) or any other sales tax payable by the student in their country of residence. Where the University is required to add VAT, GST or any other sales tax at the local statutory rate, this will be added to the fees shown during the payment process. For students residing in the UK, our fees are exempt from VAT.
Textbooks
You may also need to budget for textbooks (which could extend to around £300 per year).
Examination centre fees
You will be required to pay an examination centre fee directly to the venue each time you sit an exam. Examination centre fees are not included in the fees set out above. This fee will vary from centre to centre and you should contact your proposed examination centre(s) for details of their fees to factor them in to the overall cost of completing the programme. In these unprecedented times, the University has and continues to respond quickly to the impact of COVID-19, which has resulted in changes to our assessment processes. In line with our General Regulations, the University may offer you alternative assessments where necessary. This includes holding online timed assessments in place of written examinations, which are usually held at examination centres. You can find contact details for all our examination centres on the website. The University of London is only responsible for the examination centre fee charged at London centres. You will be charged £81 per sitting when using London examination centres.
Online examination fees
The University will charge an online examination administration fee of £10 for each examination paper held online. This fee is in addition to the exam entry fees as advertised for your programme.
Examination resit fees
If you need to resit a module/course, you must pay a resit fee. The current resit fee for full courses is £381 for a full course, and £191 for a half course.
Funding and Financial Support Options
There are various ways to fund your undergraduate degree programme. We encourage all students to explore the resources available to them, including:
- employer benefits
- scholarships
- education loans
- private education loans.
Employer Benefits
If you are interested in employer sponsorship options, please have your employer provide you with a purchase order or a signed and authorized letter on company-headed paper outlining the total fees they will pay in sterling pounds.
Your employer will receive an invoice from the University for the amount specified. The purchase order number can be specified on the invoice by request. When you register for your programme, please upload the document your employer has provided, select “Payment by Sponsor” and specify either an amount or percentage of the programme fee your employer sponsor will pay.
Any fees not covered by employer sponsorship will be charged to you. If you withdraw from the programme, your sponsor will still be responsible for any outstanding fees they had previously agreed to pay on your behalf.
Scholarships
Scholarship opportunities are limited and very competitive. If you plan to apply for a related award, we recommend applying as early as possible.
You may only be eligible for certain scholarships if you have secured an offer to study from the University of London. In cases where an offer is not required, holding an offer to study can often benefit a funding application.

Education Loans
If you are studying towards your first undergraduate degree, you can apply for a tuition fee loan to cover your registration fees.
Maintenance loans are not available for this programme. Generally, you will only receive a student loan if this is your first higher education qualification, even if your previous course was self-funded.
Country-Specific Qualifications
Loan availability is country dependent. Students who qualify for assistance as residents of the UK may qualify for a loan to assist with tuition payment. Limited funding is available to help with living expenses.
If you are a UK resident, you can apply for support through your country’s aid office:

If you are a US citizen or eligible non-citizen, you do not qualify for federal student aid or military education benefits for these programmes due to the online format.
If you are from an EU country, you may be eligible for a tuition fee loan and help with living costs. Use the student finance calculator to learn more.
When to Apply
You may apply for UK funding up to nine months after the first day of the academic year of your course. You do not need a confirmed place in the programme to apply.
In the UK, it can take up to six weeks to secure confirmation. You may have to provide additional evidence to secure loan funding.
Private Education Loans
Private education loans, also known as alternative loans, are offered by private lenders to help students bridge the gap between the cost of education and the available funds to cover tuition costs.
